Edward Drannan Hollifield

Edward Drannan Hollifield, 85, of Morganton, died Saturday April 13, 2013 follow a period of declining health. He was born in Cleveland County, NC on January 5, 1928 and was a son of the late J. A. and Alma Wood Hollifield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Mr. Hollifield was a member of Mount Home Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Broughton Hospital.Edward is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Greene Hollifield; sons and their wives, Roger D. and Faye Hollifield of Morganton, Guy and Joyce Hollifield of Lincolnton, NC, and Richard and Wanda Hollifield of Boiling Springs, NC; five grandchildren, Larry, Shelley, Bryan, Drannan, and Vance; and seven great-grandchildren.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Gamble and Rev. Bob Deviney officiating. Edward’s special friends from Allison’s Restaurant will service as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery in Mooresboro, NC. At other times the family will be at the home, 111 Murphy Court.
