Edward "Leroy" McFalls

Edward "Leroy" McFalls, 84, of Morganton, NC passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Burke Palliative Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Burke County, NC on May 18, 1929, he was the son of the late Edward Earl McFalls and Nettie Cuthbertson McFalls. Leroy was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had served as a trustee and on various church committees. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Leroy worked as a lumber inspector for 20 years at Drexel Heritage Furnishings. He later worked as supervisor of the lumber yard at Henredon Furniture for 24 years before his retirement from the company.Leroy enjoyed gardening, meeting his friends at Phifer Wellness Center, and spending vacations and weekly outings with special friends, Bill and Ruth McNeely.Leroy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Ross McFalls; a son, Mark McFalls and his wife, Tammy, of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Anna and Dan McFalls; and siblings-in-law, Lib McFalls, Marquean Cole and her husband, Gene, Kenneth Ross and his wife, Jewell, Bill Galloway, and Chris Lingerfelt.In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his brother, John McFalls, and three sisters, Juanita McFalls, Nina Lingerfelt, and Peggy Galloway.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverends Timothy Horldt and Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
