Edward Shuping, 95, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Grace Heights. Born in Burke County, NC on July 11, 1920, he was the son of the late Luther Shuping and Lois Dale Shuping. Edward was a life-long member of Salem United Methodist Church. Mr. Shuping was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was in the 2nd wave of soldiers to land on the beach at Normandy. Edward retired from the NC Dept. of Transportation in 1982.
Mr. Shuping is survived by several nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Shuping and Floy Smith; and four brothers, Ernest, Paul, Lester, and Charlie Shuping.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1206 Salem Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
