Eileen Mageau Diem

Eileen Mageau Diem, 73, of Morganton died Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Eileen was born September 8, 1939 in Queens, New York to the late Theordore Pierre Mageau and Pearl Edith Jacobs Mageau. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Eileen and her husband, Kenneth, along with their canine companions, Morgan and Siobhan enjoyed doing pet therapy at Blue Ridge Health Care and Catawba Valley Medical Center.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Teddy Mageau; sister, Rosemarie Mageau; granddaughter, Tara Murphy and great-grandson, Joseph Murphy.Eileen is survived by her husband, of fifty-three and half years, Kenneth Charles Diem; children, Valerie Hegeland and husband, Steve of Virginia, Kenneth C. Diem, Jr. and wife, Grace of Florida, Lisa Diem Blevins and husband, Steven of New York, Joanne Clyde and husband, William of New York, Michael Diem and wife, Valerie of New York, Mary Diem of Georgia and John Diem and wife, Keiko of Hawaii; sisters, Jean Kanniff of New Hampshire, Patricia Baumgartner and husband, William of Florida and Barbara Herman and her lifetime partner, Fran Corbett of Georgia; 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Whittington officiating. Inurnment will be in the Calverton National Veterans cemetery in Riverhead, New York at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
