Committal
Elaine Hendrix Barnes, 69, of Morganton, NC went home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Born in McDowell County, NC on January 11, 1948, she was the daughter of Ruby Hipps Hartsoe and the late Norman Albert Hendrix. Elaine was an avid volunteer to school that her children attended. She loved to read. Elaine was a devoted military wife and had travelled to many places in the US.
Elaine is survived by her sons, Jamie Barnes and wife, Christy, of Nashville, TN and Michael Barnes and wife, Katie, of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren which she loved dearly, Logan, Zach, Ryleigh, Madison, and Abigail Barnes; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
In addition to her father, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, James Barnes, Sr.; and step-father, Tom Hartsoe.
The celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Emory officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to assist with funeral expenses.
