Eleanor Powell

Eleanor Powell, 87, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese. Born March 7, 1925 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late William Archie Powell and Margaret Alway Parker Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Hunter and a brother, Clyde Powell. Eleanor was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church, and a former employee of Broughton Hospital.Eleanor is survived by her caregiver and niece, Lynda Hunter of York, SC, and other nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Glen Alpine United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Mayo officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
