Elen Wilson “Benny” Benson, 77, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Born in Marion, IN on April 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Oscar Wilson Benson and Alma Mae Ferguson. Mr. Benson was a member of First Christian Church in Glasgow, KY.
A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Benny is survived by his children, Kim Birchum and her husband, Jammy, of Drexel, NC, Kevin Benson and his wife, Suzie, of Columbia City, IN, Kristi Bordelon and her husband, Brent, of Charlotte, NC, Kelly Benson and his wife, Shirley, of Drexel, Kirk Benson and his wife, Marcia, of Morganton, Kip Benson and his wife, Leslie, of Morganton, and Korey Benson of Morganton; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Cathy Sollars of Kokomo, IN.
In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Ann Franklin Benson.
The family will receive friends from 10am – 12pm, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 12pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kelly Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
At other times the family will be at the residence of Kip Benson on Crest Hill Drive in Morganton.
