Elizabeth Ann “Lib” Rhodes

Elizabeth Ann “Lib” Rhodes, 87 of Morganton, NC passed away, Friday, May 13, 2022. Born on February 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Rachel Marie Rhodes. Lib was a member of Mt. View #2 which she loved dearly. She loved her grandbabies and reading. Lib made the best chicken ‘n’ dumplins.

Lib is survived by her daughter, Wanda Powell; grandchildren, Wendy Cline (Jonathon), Holly French (Justin), Travis Powell; great-grandchildren, Rachel Loftis, Maddy Burt, Eli Burt, Braxton Habanec; great-great-grandchildren, Pyper Reid and Millie Bartlow; daughters-in-law, Shirley Powell (Harold) and Wanda Powell (Eddie). The family would like to say a special thanks to Amorem Hospice in-home care team for the care of Lib.

In addition to her mother, Lib is preceded in death by her sons, Harold Eugene Powell, Richard Eddie Powell; sisters, Mae Davis, Nancy Hawkins, Millie Ketchum.

The family will receive friends from 11am until noon, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Paul White officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
