Elizabeth Hope Powell

Elizabeth Hope Powell, 44, of Gilbreath Road, Mosheim, TN, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 in Bull’s Gap, TN. Born in Burke County, NC on November 5, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Larry Matthew Powel and Earlene Aldridge Hamer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Hamer, and a nephew, Donnie Powell. Elizabeth was a 1982 graduate of Freedom High School. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a friend to all and a blessing to anyone who knew her.She leaves behind her beloved son, Michael Edward Aldridge Banner and fiancée, Tori Rosier, of the home; brothers, John Hamer and wife, Cindy, of Morganton, Mark Hamer and wife, Judy, of Morganton, Larry Dale Cook of Casar, NC, Larry Wayne Powell and wife, Tammy, of Morganton, Norris Powell of Crossnore, NC, and Bobby Powell and wife, Heidi, of Crossnore; sisters, Anita Loweberg and husband, Larry, of Deep Gap, NC, Joyce Dellinger and husband, Michael, of Henson Creek, NC, Rita Staton and husband, Junior, of Spruce Pine, NC, and Melissa Hampton of Greenville, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Calvary Assembly of God with Rev. Mike Whisnant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. At all other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Larry and Tammy Powell, Lonnie Shuffler St., Morganton.A memorial service will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at Mosheim Funeral Home in Mosheim, TN.Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
