Elizabeth ‘Lib" Fisher Giles

Elizabeth ‘Lib" Fisher Giles, 82, of Morganton died August 5, 2011. She was born in Burke County on January 8, 1929 to the late Benjamin Harrison Fisher and Effie Aletha Wooten Fisher. Mrs. Giles was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. She was the role model grandmother with her world champion pound cake and "C.C." baking. She loved to garden and yard work. "There will not be a leaf on the yard of heaven from now on."In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Trexler Giles; a son Timothy Giles; a brother, Clyde Fisher; and a sister, Irene Bowers.Mrs. Giles is survived by her son, Ernie Giles and his wife, Marsha of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jessica Giles Hurst and her husband, Tim, and Destiny Giles Johnson and her husband, James all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Jakob, Elias, Samuel, Ellanor, and Charlie; siblings, Virginia Propst, Jo Ellen Lipe, Louis Fisher, and Ben Herman Fisher.A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Mount Home Baptist Church with the Rev. David Orders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p. m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mount Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mount Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
