Elizabeth "Lib" Taylor McMahon, 67, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 12, 2015. Born November 11, 1947 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of Nettie Epley Taylor and the late James Otis Taylor. Lib retired from Western Carolina Center after 27 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Lib enjoyed playing the piano, working puzzles, shopping and taking trips to Myrtle Beach but mainly enjoyed spending time with her family, calling and talking to her friends and loving her two yorkies. Our Libby loved the Lord, loved the U.S. flag and our country. She loved watching the race with Dad. She was a Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano fan. This family will miss her fiesty spunk and kindness and hard working attitude till we meet again.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Charles McMahon; daughters, Beverly McMahon and Sharon Dupuis and husband, Bobby; son, Tim McMahon and wife Christie; grandsons, Travis Dellinger, Robert Dupuis, Austen Winters and Alex McMahon; granddaughters, Stevie Dellinger, April Turner and husband, Luke and Kate McMahon; great-granddaughter, River Turner, all of Morganton; sisters, Barbara Southworth and husband, Ed, of Frankfort, KY and Janice Wilson, of Lakeland, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and special yorkies, Jazmine and Savannah.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacy Dawn Dellinger.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Freddy Lindsey officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals, P.O. Box 1884, Morganton, NC 28680.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
