Elizabeth Norman Murphy

Elizabeth Norman Murphy, 85, of S. King Street, Morganton died Sunday, April 12, 2009 following a brief illness. She was born in McDowell County, WV on May 5, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Tom and Zula Norman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Murphy; a daughter, Mary Sue Blankenship; and by brothers, Fred and Willie Norman. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church.Surviving are her son, Jimmy Blankenship; a brother, Woodrow Norman; a sister, Amanda Whisnant, all of Morganton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev.
