Elizabeth Patton Lane

Elizabeth Patton Lane, 76, of Patton Road, Morganton, NC died unexpectedly Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born in Burke County, NC on July 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Hence Patton and Edith Bolding Patton. Elizabeth was a 1952 graduate of Glen Alpine High School. A devout Christian, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and church family. Elizabeth lived her life in the service of her family and others and for the will of her Lord and Savior.She is survived by two sons, Greg Lane and wife, Debbie, and Gary Lane and wife, Tammy, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Daniel Lane and wife, Ashley, and Derek Lane; brothers, Len Patton and wife, Nancy, Troy Patton and wife, JoAnn, David Patton, Willard Patton and wife, Clara, and Alfred Patton and wife, Mary, all of Morganton, and Edward Patton and wife, Karen, of Huntingtown, MD; sisters, Eldorador Norman and husband, Dallas, and Edith Worsham and husband, Darrell, both of Morganton, and Kaye Cline and husband, Carl, of Icard, NC; sisters-in-law, Dianne Patton and Judy Patton, both of Morganton; and a host of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Lane; a son, Christopher A. Lane; eleven brothers, Una, Ronnie, Don, Robert, Nelson, Harold, Ernest, John Wesley, Jacob, Douglas, and Logan Patton; and three sisters, Bertie Patton Branch, Rosa Lee Patton, and Fannie Patton.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow in Missionary Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. At other times the family will be at the residence of Greg Lane, 5792 Rainhill Church Road, Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, P.O.
