Ella Marie Ball Donahue

Ella Marie Ball Donahue, 87, long time resident of Morganton passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Dennis R. Donahue, Morganton’s first permanent veterinarian. They operated Donahue Animal Clinic from 1948 until they retired in 1982. She was born in Maysville, Kentucky on August 18, 1925 and relocated to North Carolina shortly after Dr. Donahue’s release from the Army of the United States.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Morganton, a Grace Hospital volunteer, and a long time member and current president of Club 21. She will be missed by her many, long time friends.Surviving in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Dawn Marie Donahue Michaud and husband, Robert, of Sanford, N.C.; her son, Dennis D. Donahue and wife, Cindy of Charlotte, N.C.; grandsons, Benjamin Little and wife, Rebecca of Sanford, N.C., Jason Little and wife, Alison of Greensboro, N.C., and Patrick Little of Greensboro, N.C.; step-grandson, Chris Bradley of Cheyenne, WY; great grandchildren, Matthew Little and Jordynn Little; step-great grandchildren, Joshua, Kylie, and Liam Baldwin; and her sister, Mary Ball Jackson and husband, Harold, of Hendersonville, N.C. as well as many nieces and nephews.A graveside service was held at Burke Memorial Park on Saturday, October 27, 2012.Friends may make memorial donations in her memory to the charity of their choice.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
