Ellene Sanders Beck

Ellene Sanders Beck, 83, of Glen Alpine, NC died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Grace Heights. Born December 17, 1927 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Frank Sanders and Grace Yarborough Sanders. Ellene was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings Company.She is survived by a son, James "Buster" Beck of Glen Alpine; a daughter, Phyllis Beck Fox and husband, Jim of Morganton; grandchildren, William "Dee" Beck and wife, Lisa, and Tracey Fowler and husband, Kevin; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Eula Matthews of Drexel, Iris Moore and Thula Cairico, both of Rock Hill, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Ellene was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Beck; brothers, Ed, Earl, and Jimmy Sanders; and sisters, Mammie Henson, Vonnie Holder, and Virginia "Babe" Hawkins.Cryptside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Adrian Shephard officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
