Ellie Puett McCall

Ellie Puett McCall, 92, of Morganton, NC passed on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 to be with her Heavenly Father. Born on August 17, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Elam Avery Puett and Bessie Deal Puett. Ellie was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she served as an R.A. leader. She loved gardening and canning for both her immediate and extended families. Ellie was truly cherished by both her family and the community.A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Ellie is survived by her children, Dianna Ferguson and husband, James, Stephen McCall and wife, Joan, and Connie Foust, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Daniel and Scott McElveen, James and Emily Roche, Treasure Lathan, Ellie White, and Evan and John-Elam Foust; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hettie Yelton.In addition to her parents, Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee McCall; five brothers, Nelson, Avery, Arthur, Edison, and Edwin; and three sisters, Vira, Lula, and Betty.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Bob Shepherd officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. McCall’s memory may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 5388 Mt. Olive Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
