Ellis Alexander “Zan” Lingerfelt

Ellis Alexander “Zan” Lingerfelt, 92, of Morganton passed away Friday, January 14, 2022.  Born in Burke County, NC on June 18, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank Lingerfelt and Iris Franklin Lingerfelt.  Zan was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church.  He was an avid rabbit hunter and always enjoyed the sound of his beagles running.  Mr. Lingerfelt was a heavy equipment operator for many years, doing grading work all around western North Carolina.  He retired from Burke Grading and Paving.

Zan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nina Seagle Lingerfelt; son, Michael Lingerfelt (Lavonda); grandson, Chad Smith (Victoria); and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Laiken Smith.

In addition to his parents, Zan was preceded in death by brothers, Delbert and Fred Lingerfelt; and sisters, Louise Coffey, Rachel Allman, Virginia Carpenter, Ethel Morrison, Laura Whisnant, and Geneva King.

The graveside service will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. David Orders officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Valley Baptist Church.
