Elsie Bandy Keaton, 96, of Drexel, NC passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on May 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Bandy and Mary Branch Bandy. Elsie attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved growing flowers and embroidery.
Mrs. Keaton is survived by her sons, James Keaton and wife, Beverly, of Morganton, Donald Keaton and wife, Tammy, of Morganton, and Robert Keaton and wife, Virginia, of Valdese, NC; a daughter, Brenda Crane and husband, Bill, of Morganton; grandchildren, Kimberly Smith and husband, Scotty, Ray Crane and wife, Sherry, Dawn Crowder, Jennifer Setree and husband, Brian, and Brittney Keaton; 9 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Whisenant; and a sister-in-law, Edna Bandy.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Alex Keaton; a daughter, Mary Crowder and husband, James; a granddaughter, Melanie Keaton; a great-great-granddaughter, Kadience Greenman; brothers, Martin and Roy Bandy; and a sister, Viola Rocket.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will follow at 3 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Doug Price officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
