Elsie Tate Roper, 86, of the Salem Community, Morganton died Sunday, March 24, 2019. Born in Burke County, NC on April 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John William Roper and Ethel Puckett Roper. Elsie was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading her bible and baking. She loved her family and friends, and acted as caregiver to her parents and brothers.
Elsie is survived by her nephews, Kenneth Roper (Rachel) and Benjamin Roper (Lisa); nieces, Janet Davis (Randy) and Lara Roper Wilson; great-nieces, Danielle Wilson, Madison Wilson, and Sarah Roper; great-nephews, Richie Roper and Will Davis; and great-great-nieces, Macy Rodriguez and Morgan Roper.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her brothers, William Alvin Roper, Glenn Ray Roper, and Ned Joseph Roper; sisters-in-law, Marie Roper and Rosemary Roper; and nephew, Carlos Joe Roper.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with the Revs. Norman Jones and David Orders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church.
