Elvis Harold Vaughn

Elvis Harold Vaughn, Sr., 90, of Morganton, NC, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Grace Hospital, Morganton following a brief illness. He was born August 9, 1915 in Banks Co., GA, and was a son of the late Coyle Vaughn and Matilda McGinnis Vaughn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Irene Franklin Vaughn; a daughter, Rebecca Vaughn; four brothers and one sister. Mr. Vaughn was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church, and served in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by a son, Elvis Harold Vaughn, Jr. and his wife, Sheryl, of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Vaughn Beaver and husband, Brock, of Goose Creek, SC, and Stephen Vaughn of Greer, SC; and sisters-in-law, Ruby Propst, Rosalie Franklin, Betty Sue Allen and husband, George, and Martha Blanchard, all of Morganton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military graveside rites by the Valdese American Legion Post #234. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
