Emanuel Dwayne Smith

Emanuel Dwayne Smith, 41, of Morganton, NC passed away Friday, November 28, 2014. Born February 15, 1973 in Burke County, NC, he was the son of Ambrose Emanuel Smith of Morganton; and the late Kathleen Earp Smith. He attended Carswell Memorial Baptist Church. Emanuel was a devoted sports fan, but he really enjoyed watching football. He was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time on the beach.
In addition to his father, Emanuel is survived by a sister, Sandy Jean Hightower and husband, Ray of Morganton; nephews, Ray Emanuel Hightower and wife, Karen, Trenton Jevon Hightower and wife, Sherri, and Tristan Hightower; a niece, Christine Hightower Sawyer and husband, Brian; great-nephews, Payton Hightower, and Greyson and Bailey Sawyer; a great-niece, Taylor Hightower; his aunts, Margaret, Marie, Lottie, Cuteen, and Clara; uncles, Bob, John, Jerry, Joe, and Roger and their spouses; his cousin, Maleta Conley; other cousins and friends; a special friend, Dottie Watts; and his beloved canine companion, Daisy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Ray Hightower and Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow at El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
