Ernest Monroe Moses

Ernest Monroe Moses, 87, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Grace Heights. Born July 4, 1925 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late Joe and Roxie Ann Moses. Ernest retired from Duke Power in1985 with over 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.Ernest is survived by his wife, Virginia Whisenant Moses of the home; a son, Eugene Moses of Morganton; daughters, Linda Eaker and fiancée, Ralph Anderson of Jacksonville, FL and Barbara Smith and husband, Claude, of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Leslie Ann Benton, Jason Eaker, and Michael Smith; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Benton and Chance Benton; and a special friend, Kenneth Loven, who was like a son to Ernest.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends Steve Parker and Keith Moses officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Gene Moses, directly across the street from his father’s residence.
