Essie Mae Watts Waters

Essie Mae Watts Waters, 95, of Nebo, NC, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Born in Burke County, NC on August 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Watts and Etta Roper Watts.  Essie was a faithful member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.  She loved the Lord, her family, and her church and she enjoyed gardening, canning, music, and singing.

Essie is survived by her son, Joe Bennett Waters (Teresa); sister-in-law, Derlene Waters; brother-in-law, Hardy Waters (Mary); and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Essie was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin LeRoy Waters; sisters, Carrie Rollins and Velsie McCurry; two infant sisters; and brothers, Albert, Tommy, Robert, and James Watts.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Revs. Phillip Hefner and Jonathan Wallace officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
