Estelle Lillie Owens Gibbs

Estelle Lillie Owens Gibbs, 96, of Potomac, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at her daughter’s residence. She was born January 8, 1912 in Columbus, NC and was a daughter of the late John Owens and Mary Ann Hall Owens.Estelle is survived by children, John Preston Gibbs and wife, Pam, of San Diego, CA, Betty Gibbs Sparks and husband, Bill, of Winston-Salem, NC, Mary Gibbs Yeh and husband, John, of Potomac, MD, and Jimmy Nelson Gibbs and wife, Winona, of New Orleans, LA; a sister, Louise Owens Jackson of Tryon, NC; a brother, Norris Owens and wife, Lorraine, of Columbus, NC; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Estelle was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Nelson Gibbs.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Lineberger officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
