Estelle Yount Wright

Estelle Yount Wright, 96, of Buena Vista Apartments, in Drexel, went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2008. She was born on September 2, 1912 in Lincoln County and was a daughter of the late Samuel Walter Yount and Flossie Ramsey Yount. A longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church, Estelle devoted the last 24 years of her life caring for the residents of J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center as a Foster Grandmother.Surviving are two sons, Steve Wright and Danny Wright and his wife, Dot, all of Morganton; her daughter-in-law, Anne Duckworth Wright; grandchildren, Alan Wright and his wife, Annette, Austin Wright and his wife, Stephanie, their children, Brittany, Grace, Will, and Matt Wright, Ron Richards and his wife, Terri, their children, Meredith and Matthew, Pam Chapman and her husband, Bryan, their daughter, Millie, and Kale Wright; brothers, Sam Yount and his wife, Marguerite, and Rev. Robert "Bob" Yount; and sisters, Katheryn Goodman and Bryte Mosteller. A host of nieces and nephew also remain, many of whom she took care of in her home when they were children. Her extended family includes many residents and staff members of J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Lloyd" Wright, a son, Aaron Wright; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Wright; a sister, Louise Yount Blackburn; and a great-grandchild, Wesley Russ.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Freshour officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Lawndale, NC with Rev. Robert Yount officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
