Eugene "Gene" Milton Hines

Eugene "Gene" Milton Hines, 77, of Woodlawn Dr. in Morganton died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Grace Hospital. He was born May 3, 1931 in Lynchburg, VA, and was the son of the late Otis Linwood Hines and Lois Bishop Hines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wayne Hines. Gene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He retired from Carolina Shoe where he was a plant manager.He is survived by his wife, Barbara Phillips Hines of the home; daughters, Kathy Hines Horne and husband, Scott, of Morganton, and Kim Hines Hubbard and husband, John, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends at their residence following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 100 Silvercreek Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
