Eva Jeanette Huffman Auton, 84, of Morganton, NC went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2016. She was born on August 26, 1931 in Burke County. She was a daughter of the late William and Maudie Huffman and was raised by her uncle and aunt, Frances and Nettie Smith.
Eva was a faithful member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Morganton and retired from Drexel Knitting Mills with over 40 years of service.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Eva is survived by her daughter, Shelia Johnson and her husband, Ralph, of Morganton; sons, Don Auton and Rickey Auton of the home; grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Karen, Adam and wife, Britney, Tosha Beck and husband, Zach, and Lauren and Lindsey Auton; great-grandchildren, Ally, Mason, Macy, and Taylor Auton, and the most recent addition to the family, Trenton W. Beck; brothers, James Huffman and his wife, Sue, and Dean Huffman and his wife, Joyce; sisters, Minnie Bumgarner and Jennie Mae Huffman; and numerous nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Auton; two brothers; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 28 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the residence on W.A. Harris Road.
