Evelyn Croy Brittain

Evelyn Croy Brittain, 87, of Morganton, NC died Monday, March 25, 2013 at Grace Heights following a period of declining health. Born December 14, 1928 in Pembroke, VA, she was a daughter of the late Cortland "Ted" and Anna Kate Stouth Croy. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a member of the North Morganton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Brittain; sisters, Wanda Weeks, Anne Campfield, and Lola Croy; and a brother, Quinton "Junior" Croy.Evelyn is survived by her children, Linda A. Benfield and husband, Warren, George E. Brittain and wife, Tricia, Douglas L. Brittain and wife, Doris, Ted W. Brittain, and Robert W. Brittain all of Morganton; grandchildren, Martin Brittain and wife, Adrienne of Wallkill, NY, Tisha Fisher and husband, Steve of Morganton, Jennifer Carlisle and husband, Travis of Brandenburg, KY, Tyler and Dylan Brittain of Morganton; great grandchildren, Sydney Carlisle and Patch Fisher; a sister, Deborah Higgins and husband, Floyd of Roanoke, VA; brothers, Jimmie Croy and wife, Billie of Raleigh, NC and Donnie Croy and wife, Pam of Winter Haven, FL; and a number of nephews and nieces.The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1663 Jamestown Rd., Morganton, NC with Mr. Pernell Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Hall for one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Morganton Kingdom Hall Remodeling Fund, 105 White Pine Lane, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
