Evelyn Stewart Liles

Evelyn Stewart Liles, 91, of Grace Ridge, Morganton, NC died Saturday, February 11, 2012. Born in Moore County, NC on August 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin Stewart and Edna Graves Stewart. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Stewart, who passed at the age of 17.She married her husband of 72 years, Henry Van Liles, Sr. on March 7, 1940 in Bennettsville, SC.In addition to her husband, Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Doris Liles Beedie and husband, Bill, of Hilton Head Island, SC; a son, Henry Van Liles, Jr. and wife, Myra LeFevers Liles, of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Sondra Beedie Richards of Midland, TX, William "Sam" Beedie of Tampa, FL, and Lauren Liles of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Parker and Weston Richards of Midland, TX and Cade and Cecilia Beedie of Tampa, FL; nieces, Glenda Liles Thompson of Charlotte, NC and Susan Liles Friedman of Manassas, VA; a nephew, James Ray Liles; a sister-in-law, Margaret Lewis Liles of Candor, NC; and several cousins.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
