Evelyn Webb Wehunt

Evelyn Webb Wehunt, 83, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on November 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Roby Webb and Estelle Phillips Webb. Evelyn was an active member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Wehunt retired from R.E.A. and was a former employee of the Morganton News Herald.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gary Joe Wehunt; brothers, Guy Webb and his wife, Peggy, Ray Webb and his wife, Kay, and Howard Webb and his wife, Wanda; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Horace Webb.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral service.
