Fairy Winters Cooper

Fairy Winters Cooper, 84, of Morganton, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Mission St. Joseph’s in Asheville. Born August 19, 1932 in Avery County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Sudie Clarke Winters.  She and her husband, the late Tom Cooper, owned and operated the Sunnyside Rest Home.  Lovingly called “Grandma Cooper”, she enjoyed making crafts, porcelain dolls, cooking, and caring for others.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Bennett and Robert Cooper.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Tommy Cooper and wife, Beth, Carl Cooper and wife, Gladys, Shirley Carswell, Jeanne McIntosh and husband, Lee all of Morganton, and Tena Brackett and husband, Rev. Michael of Richmond, VA; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Allen of Morganton.

Fairy’s family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Grace Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary with the Reverends Marty Bess and Rex Ware officiating.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
