Fannie Irene Queen Roberson, 84, of Pearson Avenue, Morganton, NC died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Carolina Rehab Center in Connelly Springs, NC. Born on May 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Cicero Queen and Lucricie Crotts Queen. Fannie was a strong believer of the Baptist Faith. She loved to grow flowers and garden, and was a giver by nature. When outdoors, she felt humbled by the beauty of God. She always put others first and made everyone feel welcomed and loved by God.She is survived by her children, Jessie Pearson and husband, Arthur "Babe" of Morganton, Lessie Whelchel and husband, Kenneth, of Bostic, NC, and Steve Roberson and wife, Diane, of Bostic; grandchildren, Sherry Whelchel Cobett, Crystal Pearson Riles, Kimberly W. Rhoads, Mark Whelchel, Dale Roberson, Misty W. Ruppe, Dusty Whelchel, and Heather R. Spence; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Vangie Q. Van Dyke of Bostic and Mozell Terry of Shelby, NC.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Ardell Roberson; a son, Clevie Roberson; and a granddaughter, Wendy Whelchel.A celebration of Fannie’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Mount Harmony Baptist Church in Bostic, NC with the family conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
