Fannie Mae Barrier Baird

Fannie Mae Barrier Baird, 86, of Morganton went home to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Autumn Care of Drexel. Born April 27, 1925 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Empsey Cloyd Barrier and Annie Lee Avery Barrier. A faithful member of Morganton Freedom Church of God, Fannie sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school. She was a retired employee of Ferree Cleaners with 46 years of service.Fannie is survived by a son, Roger D. Baird and wife, Martha; a daughter, Kathy Gaither; grandchildren, Kevin Baird and his wife, Shellie, Brenda Gaither, and Gene Gaither; a sister, Mary Beach; brothers, Allen, Herman, and Odell Barrier; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, C. Adrian Baird; brothers, Claude and Floyd Barrier; and a sister, Bertie Mull.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Morganton Freedom Church of God with the Reverends Todd Phillips and Jeff Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in church thirty minutes before the funeral hour. At other times, family will be at the residence of the daughter, Kathy Gaither in Morganton.
