Farrell Edward Poteat

Farrell Edward Poteat, 87, of Morganton, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Ira Winston Poteat and Azliee Digh Poteat.  Farrell was a member of Gibb’s Chapel Wesleyan Church and was US Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He worked for Carolina Freight for 37 years and Breeden for 8 years.  He was a Burke County Bee Keeper.

Farrell is survived by his sons, Darren Poteat (Ann-Marie), Rondall Poteat, and Jason Poteat (Valera); grandchildren, Cody, Amber, Johnathon, Jerica, and Benjamin Poteat; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Steve Poteat.

In addition to his parents, Farrell was preceded in death by his wife, Geldia Onadine Williams Poteat; and two brothers.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery with Rev. Cris Uren officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.
