Faye Elizabeth Greene Hollifield entered her eternal home on Monday, May 23, 2022 after a brief illness.
Faye was born on September 6th,1942 in Avery County. Her parents were the late Carl Greene and Sadie Williams Greene. Faye’s youth was spent in Mc Dowell County. Faye was married to the late Roger Hollifield, deceased in 2016.
She is survived by several cousins, Bud Williams and Norine Miller and Jill Williams and by two brothers-in-law, Guy and Richard Hollifield.
Faye worked as a purchasing technician for the Burke County Government Offices until her retirement in 2007. Faye attended Mount Home Baptist Church and had recently been attending First Baptist Church with friends. Faye’s faith was vital to her. She loved animals and reminisced fondly of her dogs, especially Sheba. Faye generously supported several charities and was a kind soul. Faye loved her condominium at Victory Pointe. She considered her neighborhood friends as family. Faye enjoyed dining out or eating in with her “circle of friends” almost nightly. Also left to cherish Faye’s memory are her special friends and neighbors: June Dawkins, Pam Brown, Susan Rudicil, Wendy Coffin, Edna Buff, Denise Scarboro, Betsy and Barry Blatz and King Louie Blatz (her favorite cat). Faye was happy and at her best when she was surrounded by her group of friends.
Faye’s friends would like to thank the staff at Grace Heights for their kindness and exceptional care shown toward Faye. Special thanks also to Loretta Moses for her help and patience while Faye was at Grace Heights.
A celebration of Faye’s life will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home at 3 pm with Dr. Thomas A Bland, Jr. and Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

When I couldn't reach you today I had a sinking feeling. I am so glad that I got to meet you and Roger, bonding over...of all things...bottle caps! Roger's caps will always have a special place in my folk art pieces. Sorry I didn't get to see you or talk to you again. You guys were good people.
