Faye Mclean Garrison Griffin

Faye Mclean Garrison Griffin peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, five months short of her 105th birthday. Born in Caldwell County, NC on August 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Leah Shoemake McLean. She was raised in the Collettsville/Globe area. Faye moved to Valdese after her high school graduation where she met and married Sherrill Garrison. They lived and raised their family in Drexel.

Faye was known for her winning smile and her willingness to help others.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carol Powell; son, S. A. Garrison, Jr. (Phyllis); grandsons, Lance Eric Powell and Gabriel Garrison (Stephanie); great-granddaughters, Peyton Powell Hamby (Austin) and Tabitha Garrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husbands, Sherrill Garrison and William Griffin; daughter, Gail Garrison; son-in-law, Jackie Powell; beloved great-grandson, Lance Powell; granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Brinkley Powell; her brothers, Roy, Ray, and Lee McLean; and sister, Addie McRary.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Drexel First Church of God with Rev. Jon McDivitt officiating.

Faye was blessed to be surrounded by the nurses and staff of Autumn Care of Drexel. Their kindness was ever present. The family would also like to express their appreciation to her special home caregivers, Lance Powell and Betty Turner.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
