Flavia A. Carswell

Flavia A. Carswell, 94, of Morganton, NC passed away quietly on March 23, 2014 while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Burke County, NC on April 4, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Sarah Jane Carswell. Flavia was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and retired from Broughton Hospital.Flavia is survived by her husband of 73 years, Claude Carswell; sons, Harold Carswell and his wife, Sharon, and Leon Carswell and his wife, Olivia; a daughter, Brenda Saunders and her husband, Donald, all of Morganton; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and Flavia’s special caregiver, Ginger Parker.In addition to her parents, Flavia was preceded in death by two brothers, Zero and Andrew Carswell; and two sisters, Brunie Carswell and Lela Pendley.The graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
