Fletcher Hardin Russ, 94, of Morganton, died Saturday, January 17, 2015. Fletcher was born in Bladen County, NC on July 15, 1921 to the late Ezra Russ and Leatha Evers Russ. He was a member of Conley Rd. Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Broughton Hospital. Fletcher was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. He farmed all his life and loved to work in his garden.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Kathleen McKee Russ; a son, Rudy Russ; brother, Ervin Russ; and sisters, Myrtle Russ Blackburn, Shirley Russ Baxley, Thelma Russ Davis and Winnie Russ.
Fletcher is survived by his son, Rony Russ; daughter, Judy R. Jay both Morganton; brother, Curtis Russ and his wife, Clelia of Bladenboro, NC; sister, Emma Lee Russ Davis of Clarkton, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Conley Rd. Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Kenneth Milam and Rev. Bill Rice officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Fletcher will then be taken back to his home town, Bladenboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, NC. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at McKinnon Cemetery in Bladenboro, NC, with military honor provided by the US Army. Memorial contributions may be made to Conley Rd. Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4208 Foreman St., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese , NC 28690.
