Fletcher Nelson, Jr.

Fletcher Nelson, Jr. 77, of Morganton died Thursday, December 3, 2015.  Fletcher was born May 23, 1938 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Rev. Dr. Fletcher Nelson and Murphy Sadler Nelson.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morganton and a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany. Fletcher had a love for his family, people and his church.  He enjoyed all types of media, computers and electronics and had an interest in photography.

Fletcher is survived by his sister, Mary Nelson Pierce and husband, Bennie of Kingsport, TN; nephews Hugh Pierce, Cliff Pierce and Dr. Fletcher Pierce and wife, Carrie; niece, Mary Elizabeth Kappert and husband, Jeff; great nieces and nephews, Fletcher Pierce Jr,, Frances Pierce, Avery Pierce, Libby Pierce, Kathrine Grace Kappert and Pierce Kappert.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. John Fowler officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.  The family will have a private family burial. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 N. King St., Morganton, NC 28655.
