Florence Coleen Carswell

Florence Coleen Carswell, 88, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018.  Born March 12, 1930 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Montgomery Carswell and Carrie Mae Chapman Carswell.

Mrs. Carswell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother who was compassionate and truly cared for everyone.  She was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Claude, Lula, Bertie, Ellis, Herman, and Beatrice.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ransom Carswell and three daughters, Linda Burge and husband, James, Patsy McNeely and husband, Foy, and Melva Jean Ware and husband, Larry.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a sister, Susie Penley.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Gamble and Rev. David Orders officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
