Florence Young Harrison

Florence Young Harrison, 84, of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, May 10, 2012. Born in Mitchell County, NC on April 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John Dock Young and Dorothy Burnett Young. Florence was raised in the Baptist Faith. She was a past employee of Drexel Heritage Furnishings and retired from Henredon Furniture. Florence loved to garden, can vegetables, and take walks with her grandchildren.Florence is survived by her daughter, Wanda Phillips of Yancey County, NC, fourteen grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Ray Young of Mitchell County; and a sister, Mae Elliott of McDowell County.In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by husband, Floyd Russell Harrison; sons, John Daniel Harrison, Sr. and Harold Dean Harrison; a daughter, Mary Sue Myers; brothers, Ralph and Fred Young; and a sister, Ethel Young.The funeral will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 13, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Beach officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
