Floyd Eugene Williams

Floyd Eugene Williams, 78, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Grace Hospital. Born in Burke County, NC on June 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Mouson C. Williams and Annie Celeste Brittain Williams. Floyd was an active member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, a member of the Lloyd Hart Sunday School Class, and a member of the United Methodist Men. Floyd was an avid gardener and loved to work outside in his yard. He retired from Broughton Hospital after 34 years.Floyd is survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine N. Williams of the home; sons, Mark E. Williams and wife, Susan, of Rural Hall, NC and J. Todd Williams and wife, Kim, of Morganton; grandchildren, Noah Williams of Morganton and Lauren Davis and husband, Tyler, of San Diego, CA; a brother, Kenneth Williams and wife, Virginia, of Morganton; and sisters, Theresa Williams of Morganton and Naomi O?Connell of Boca Raton, FL.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hartsell, Clarence, Norbert, and Larry Williams; and three sisters, Bertie Lou Chapman, Eloise Dale, and Carolyn Williams.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2011 at St. Matthews United Methodist Church with Rev. Heather Kilbourne officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center, where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
