Foley Wendell Thornton

Foley Wendell Thornton, 75, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Burke Palliative Care Center in Valdese. Born August 22, 1936 in Williamstown, KY, he was a son of the late Hollis Beauford Thornton and Delilah McCombs Thornton. Foley was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was a retired employee of the A.P.V. Bakery.He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wortman Thornton of the home; a son, Dustin James Thornton and his fiancée, Olivia Presnell, of Morganton; a brother, Ricky Thornton and his wife, Pam of Aiken, SC; a sister, Faye Holder of Salisbury, NC; two nieces and two nephews.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends Donald Freshour and Mark Conforti officiating. Burial will follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday one hour before the service at the funeral home.
