Forrest Jackson McNeely, Sr., 80, of Fox St., Morganton, NC died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Sunrise Rehab and Care, Marion, NC following an extended illness. He was born March 28, 2006 in Cleveland County, NC, and was a son of the late Horace and Naomi Sigmon McNeely. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Greene McNeely; and sons, Jack McNeely and Buddy McNeely. Forrest was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings.
He is survived by a son and his wife, Dean and Reta McNeely of Nebo, NC; a daughter and her husband, Sheila and Rick Long of Morganton; a brother, "Dub" McNeely of Vale, NC; sisters, Betty Jones of Lincolnton, NC, Marie Turner of Casar, NC, and Vertie Price of Blountsville, TN; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 10, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Deviney officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
