Forrest Ronnie Hudson

Forrest Ronnie Hudson, 67, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017.  Born in Burke County, NC on June 2, 1949, he was the son of the late Forest Hudson and Vassie Denton Hudson.  Ronnie was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church and Gideon International.

Ronnie retired as a Captain with the Morganton Department of Public Safety.  He served on the committee to form the Morganton-Burke Crimestoppers, worked to establish the D.A.R.E. program in Burke County, and was a charter member of Christian Law Enforcement Officers.  He also coordinated the MDPS annual Christmas party for children living at the Morganton Housing Authority which provides gifts for under-privileged children every year.

In addition to being in law enforcement, Ronnie served his community in many other ways.  He was a member of the Table Rock Kiwanis Club of Morganton and was on the board for Options.  He also worked with the United Way, including being on the Budget and Allocations Committee and as a Loan Executive in 1998.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Judith Puckett Hudson of the home; children, Tyra Lawrence and husband, Shane, of Concord, NC and Trent Hudson and wife, Sarah, of Morganton; grandchildren, Austin Lawrence, Sabrina Lawrence, Puckett Hudson, and Ellie Grace Hudson; sister, Brenda Autrey of Morganton; nephew, Charles Autrey and wife, Lara; niece, Melessa Liebzeit and husband, Ryan; and his canine companion, Maggie.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a nephew, Joey Autrey.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at El Bethel Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 pm, Friday, April 7, 2017 at the church with the Rev. Ron Cooper and Dr. Karl Minor officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
