Frances Benfield Leonard

Frances Benfield Leonard, 79 of Nebo died Friday, December 12, 2014. She was born in Burke County on September 1, 1935 to the late Tellis Manley Benfield and Helen Gibbs Benfield. Mrs. Leonard was of the Methodist faith and an active church member. She was a loving wife, mother, and Granny, with a heart of gold.
Mrs. Leonard is survived by her husband, Charles Taylor Leonard; sons, Chuck Leonard of Nebo and Mark Leonard and wife, Joy of South Carolina; grandchildren, Amber Hennessee and husband, Mikey, Alicia Lane and husband, Wesley, Chase Leonard, Hannah Leonard, Seth Leonard, and Jesse Leonard; great-grandchildren, Preston Lane, Parker Hennessee, and Paige Hennessee; brother, Tellis Benfield and wife, Louise; and her loving Jack Russell, Jake.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Magnuson and Dr. Gyles Widener. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Snow Hill United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 6425 Snow Hill Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
