Frances Howlett Drinkwater, 92, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, at her home following a period of declining health. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on April 25, 1920 and was a daughter of the late Atwell Benjamin Howlett and Eula Jeanette Stallings Howlett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Watson G. Drinkwater, Jr., and a number of brothers and sisters. Frances was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and was of the Baptist faith.Surviving are her children, Watson G. Drinkwater, III and his wife, Shelby, of Clinton, Tennessee, Denise D. Milburn of Morganton, and Sharon D. Jarvis and her husband, Arley Dale Jarvis, of Smithfield, Virginia; grandchildren, Charlotte Sue Alexander, Stephen Dale Jarvis and his wife, Lori, Richard Scott Drinkwater, and Ryan Dubberly; great-grandchildren, Sommer Lane Alexander-Cordial and her husband, Jack, and Athena Ripley Alexander; and great-great-grandchildren, Sage Lucille Alexander and Coye William Alexander.A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home & Crematory Center with the Rev. William M. Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, North Carolina 28690.
