Frank D. Fairchild

Frank D. Fairchild, 87, of Morganton died Monday, January 11, 2021.  Born in McDowell County, NC on May 31, 1933, he was the son of the late Roscoe C. Fairchild and Hannah Poulson Fairchild.  Frank was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church.  He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War and retired from Broughton Hospital.  He enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music and loved to bowl.

Frank is survived by his wife, Carole Cox Fairchild of the home; daughter, Karen D. Suttles (Kevin Ross); son, Brian L. Fairchild (Kim); step-daughter, Michelle Puckett (Eddie); step-sons, Rodney K. Cox (Lisa), Robert Cox, and Brian Cox (Jackie); grandchildren, Jennings and Bryce Fairchild; step-grandchildren, Patrick, Andrew, Kevin, Ashleigh, Brandi, Ciara, and Tangie; great-grandchild, Olivia; step-great-grandsons, Carson, Jack, Hudson and Conrad; sister, Nellie M. Clements; brother-in-law, Roger Autrey (Cindy); and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Frock Fairchild; second wife, Claudia Louise Keisling Fairchild; granddaughter, Heidi Suttles; and brothers, Leslie and Roscoe Fairchild.

Frank will be available for viewing from 12 to 2 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The cryptside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Randy Clark and Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating.  Military honors will be performed by the US Air Force and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to Wounded Warriors.
