Frank Ivan, 88, of the Kingston Residence of Hickory, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, NC following a brief illness. He was born April 3, 1917 in Czechoslovakia, and was the son of the late John and Mary Palko Ivan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Schramck Ivan. Frank was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, and served in the US Navy during World War II.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Francis "Jim" and Ruth Ivan of Morganton; a daughter, Mildred Piasck of Ohio; a sister of Margaret Hoprich of Ohio; and three grandchildren, Monica Ivan Travis and husband, Michael, Eddie Piasck, and Jamie Piasck.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2006 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Whittington officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
