Frank Jessie St. John, Jr., 75 of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born in Avery County, NC on June 29, 1940 and was the son of the late Frank Jessie St. John, Sr. and Helen Painter St. John. Frank was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted husband, father and paw who loved his grandchildren dearly. Frank loved fishing, hunting, talking on the CB radio and making music. He was a Veteran of the US Navy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Lowdermilk St. John; daughter, Marlene Silvers; sister, Betty Clark; and granddaughter, Amanda Silvers.
Frank is survived by his children, Wanda Gibbs and husband, Phillip, Carlene Truax and husband, Randy, and Sam St. John and wife, Linda; sisters, Frances Harmon, Carolyn Ollis and husband, Cecil, and Mary Saulman and husband, Charles; brother, Doug St. John and wife, Betty; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Reverends Rocky Reese and Doug St. John officiating. The burial will follow at Sonlight Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to help with funeral expenses.
